CentrO, quite unknown to most. But Centro is actually Europe’s largest shopping and experience center. Counting the area with shops, it is Germany’s largest shopping mall. Join us for a visit!

centro-oberhausen-2CentrO was built to be the biggest. The space for shops became gigantic with the including theme park Sea Life. This resulted in a construction of 119,000 square meters. In addition, there are parking lots for 14,000 cars.

That means it is an advantage to travel by car to and from the shopping mall. When CentrO was built they also constructed an “own” Autobahn connection to handle the large amount of traffic that would be. Parking lots around the Centro act as nodes and are related to the shopping center by bridges on the long side. Therefore any major congestion is a rare experience.

Parking is free. Signs clearly notice which level the car is parked and named.

Getting to CentrO

Stores and opening hours

Once inside the CentrO we find over 220 shops. Obviously, there are the usual international stores represented, but many concept stores and brand stores are also available. During Christmas time, a popular Christmas market is held next to the center.

Opening hours of CentrO are 10:00-22:00 Monday to Saturday. Sundays usually closed except 4 times a year (acc. To German law).

In the food court called “CocaCola Oasis,” there is plenty of seating and every imaginable food. It is Europe’s second largest with 1,100 seats. This surpassed only by Trafford Centres in Manchester which has 1600 seats.

Finally, it should be mentioned that there is no problem to consume a day at Europe’s largest shopping mall CentrO. It is not just shops, but also food, cinema, theater and so on. Sulky for children are available to borrow for free.

Centro is located in Oberhausen in the Ruhr area. Therefore, it is a perfect getaway for those who drive down to or up from southern Europe.
