Frankfurt may not be known as a tourist city, but the city for stressed business people. Frankfurt was heavily destroyed during the bombings of WWII, much of the old settlement was lost. Now a lot is rebuilt and well worth a visit to feel the new cozy atmosphere.
Historical sights in Frankfurt
The houses at Römer became important already in 1407 and came to play an important role in the German-Roman Empire. Frankfurt was a place of royal character and until the dissolution of the kingdom, a total of ten royal crownings took place here. The crown took place in the cathedral, but after the ceremony, a big feast dinner was always eaten by the Römer houses.
The square itself has become the tourists in Frankfurt’s big goals. There is a large selection of restaurants and souvenir shops and in the case of city festivals, there is often live music.
Finding Römer is not difficult. Frankfurt is generally an easy city to find despite its size. The roads are straight and long. Just follow the big shopping street Ziel down to the river and you will find Römer and its reclaimed beauty without any problems.
